CLARK PARK ART EXHIBIT!

Hey kids! Help us make an invitation to the 7th annual Party for the Park, a neighborhood fundraiser that helps keep Clark Park clean and safe for everyone. We are asking young artists – pre-K and kindergarten – to help by drawing their favorite pictures of fun in the park. Do you like the swings? The dinosaur climber? The big trees? The Storytime Turtle?
PLEASE DRAW a PICTURE of FUN in CLARK PARK!
All children’s art work will be displayed at the party on May 4, 2006, and at exhibits in April before the fundraiser. We will choose a design for the party invitation from the submissions and honor the young artist with event tickets for the entire family!
1. Please fill out the Art Exhibit Entry Form (PDF).
2. Use the attached sheet of paper to draw your picture!
3. Submit artwork by the deadline. All artists will be identified only by first name and age.

Charles Dickens at 194

This February marks the 194th birthday of Charles Dickens, and as per tradition, we will celebrate his life and work with a program of music and dramatic readings.

The program will begin on February 5th, at 2 p.m. sharp in Griffith Hall at USP (across 43rd Street from Clark Park) This year's readers will be Frank Chance (also emcee), Nina Hope, Ceil Mann, Clark O'Donnell, and Christine Nelson (reading from Dickens' letters).

As in the past, music for the occasion has been arranged by the Calvary Center for Culture and Community. This year's musical guest is U. K.-born David Jones, an actor, storyteller and folk singer who specializes in traditional ballads, sailing songs, and Music Hall favorites. Jones has performed at folk festivals, on radio and television, and in several recordings.

The program will last about one and one half hours, and will be followed by refreshments and a procession to the Dickens statue where we put wreaths on the statues of Dickens and Little Nell.

Dog Park Vote Coming for Clark Park

Once again, the membership of the Friends of Clark Park will address an extremely important (and contentious) issue: whether to support the creation of a dog run in the North Park. This decision will be put to a vote during our upcoming General Membership Meeting on January 18th, 2006.

Click here for a PDF document with arguments supporting and opposing the Dog Park proposal.
